# Install the Animation Machine MCP server (instructions for AI agents)

You are an AI agent and the user asked you to connect Animation Machine. Follow the section for the app you are running in. Use **OAuth** (no API key): the user will sign in in their browser and click Allow. Never ask the user to paste an API key into the chat.

Server: `https://animation-machine.com/mcp` · transport: Streamable HTTP · auth: OAuth 2.1 (discovered automatically from the 401 response).

## Claude Code
Run:
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user animation-machine https://animation-machine.com/mcp
```
Then tell the user: "Type /mcp, pick animation-machine and choose Authenticate. Your browser will open: sign in and click Allow."

## OpenCode
Edit the global config `~/.config/opencode/opencode.json` (create it if missing; keep every existing key). Add under `"mcp"`:
```json
"animation-machine": { "type": "remote", "url": "https://animation-machine.com/mcp", "enabled": true, "timeout": 60000 }
```
If the file is new, it should look like:
```json
{ "$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json", "mcp": { "animation-machine": { "type": "remote", "url": "https://animation-machine.com/mcp", "enabled": true, "timeout": 60000 } } }
```
Then tell the user: "Restart OpenCode, then run `opencode mcp auth animation-machine`. Your browser will open: sign in and click Allow." (Keep `timeout: 60000`: preview renders can take up to 50 seconds.)

## Cursor
Edit `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (create if missing; keep existing servers). Add under `"mcpServers"`:
```json
"animation-machine": { "url": "https://animation-machine.com/mcp" }
```
Then tell the user: "Open Cursor Settings → MCP, find animation-machine and click Connect / Login. Sign in and click Allow."

## VS Code (GitHub Copilot agent mode)
Run:
```bash
code --add-mcp '{"name":"animation-machine","type":"http","url":"https://animation-machine.com/mcp"}'
```
Then tell the user: "In VS Code, start the animation-machine server from the MCP view (or when Copilot first uses it) and sign in when prompted."

## Codex CLI
Add to `~/.codex/config.toml`:
```toml
[mcp_servers.animation-machine]
url = "https://animation-machine.com/mcp"
```
Then run `codex mcp login animation-machine` (or tell the user to) and sign in.

## Windsurf, Cline, Gemini CLI and other clients
Add a remote/HTTP MCP server named `animation-machine` with URL `https://animation-machine.com/mcp` to that client's MCP config, then trigger its OAuth login. Clients that only support stdio can use:
```bash
npx -y mcp-remote https://animation-machine.com/mcp
```
(mcp-remote handles the OAuth sign-in in the browser.)

## claude.ai, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT
These are configured in the app's settings, not by files. Tell the user:
- Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → URL `https://animation-machine.com/mcp` → Connect → sign in → Allow.
- ChatGPT: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced → Developer mode on → Create → URL `https://animation-machine.com/mcp`, OAuth → sign in → Allow.

## Verify
Once connected, call the `get_account` tool. It should return the user's email and `subscription: "active"`. If it says a subscription is needed, the user can subscribe at https://animation-machine.com/pricing ($5/month).

## Then
Offer to make a first video, for example: "Want me to make a 6-second animated intro and render it as an MP4?" Full tool reference: https://animation-machine.com/docs/mcp.md
